xp. 4-truth.
for the past few weeks, everything seemed back to normal already. people waking up late. less and less people waiting for the cafeteria to open. tons of people screaming and talking during lunch. and ofcourse, the teachers are getting to the student’s last nerve, especially English.
for the past three years, all my english teachers never really became english teachers. why? well, for one thing, none of them followed the curriculum. don’t know exactly why though. maybe it’s just their style of teaching. first year was somehow an introduction to english – reading, writing, etc. we had a magazine project, poetry ek ek thing, a lot of readings and analysis, and lots more. second year was quite fun though. our teacher let us watch a lot of movies which are not related to the topic – mean girls, my sassy girl (the movie, not the series in GMA) etc. haha. i mean, what does mean girls have to do with english class besides the fact that everyone in the movie speaks straight English? haha. don;t get me wrong but that was a lot of fun. we also had a lot of readings – May Day Eve, Scarlet Letter, A Separate Peace, etc. third year was quite a bummer. haha. according to the curriculum, we were supposed to read 4 novels for the schoolyear, fortunately, our teacher only required 2 while the others required all four. another thing was the “ramayana” play. honestly, i think our play was also a bummer. but a lot of people praised my acting. don’t know exactly why. haha. but oh well. xp
fourth year… i don’t know what to say. maybe its because this time, i had a real English teacher. and when i say a real English teacher, i mean those who have really deep analysis of things, very high expectations, very “compassionate” when it comes to grades (example: 4.5/30)… don’t really know if it’s a good thing or not. i mean, our teacher is really great when it comes to discussions and all. she has great analytical skills. one time, when we were discussing the Book of Job, she said something like this – “I love you, but I wish I never did”. It;s quite confusing though. can’t remember the exact words she said. but her point was “mahal kita. kaya lang, sana hindi na lang kita minahal at hindi kita natutunang mahalin”. sorry if you can’t see the point. haha. it’s better if it comes straight from her. haha. oh well. but at the same time, i don’t know if i’m gonna be happy or what. one thing is that she’s not easy to be pleased or convinced. she gives grades like 2/15, .5/30, and similar scores. the highest she gave at our class was i think 9/15. what the?!? and sometimes, she somehow insults people indirectly. don’t know if she does that on purpose or not. haha. oh well.
usually, math is the terror subject of most students. but according to 4-Truth, that would be ENGLISH!!! haha…
oh well. but at least we get to learn something, only in a very harsh way. haha. xp
